Willy Wonka Halloween

I am 6 months behind on blogging but here is our most recent activity!
This last weekend was the church trunk-or-treat party. We decorated the car and called it the "Wonka Factory".. unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it until after we started cleaning up. :(
I made lollypops out of paper plates and put them on dowels, it was cute (until they fell over). Warren Wonka gave out Golden Tickets to the kids. haha... so lame but the kids loved it.

Parker and I were Ooompa Loompa's. I saw this sexy ooompa loompa costume online and decided to design my own but make it not so "oooh la la" so I could wear to the church activity Thanks to my extremely talented mother-in-law J-Deezy, my vision became a reality. I had a lady in her ward (Linda Skinner) create a pattern for me with her fancy program and then Joanne sewed it and made it come to life. It wasn't a simple thing to do either so I am very grateful for Joanne's mad skillz on the sewing machine.

We bought Parker a toy and gave it to him as we were putting him in the costume. Our plan worked too. He was too interested in his truck to care what he was wearing. When we got home he looked in the mirror and started dancing. He loved his green hair and orange face.

FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!

Too bad we didn't have our Bunker/Carter/Duff Halloween Party this year or else we could have possibly beat the Poorts who have won Best Costume the last 3 years... but probably not. haha!

Max Lincoln Heiner

Parker has a new cousin! My older sister Tara had baby #3 on September 23rd. My Mom and I happened to be together at the time Tara was having Max so we got to listen on the phone together as she gave birth. Some may think that is weird but it was soooo neat to me. At one point I whispered in my Mom's ear.. "this could take 2 hours" (like it did me). But boy was I wrong. She only pushed for 7 minutes and then we could hear Max crying. What a neat experience, I even got a little choked up during the whole thing. I think I am ready for another baby now.. ha!

Anyways, CONGRATULATIONS TARA & MATT!!! WE LOVE YOU!

Father's Day '09

I am trying to catch up on all my blogging. I have a lot of work to do.

Father's Day was a little different this year. Warren was out of town for 4 days and came home that Sunday evening so they didn't get to wear their matching ties to church. WHAT!? But they made up for it the following Sunday. :)
Warren was in Utah running the Wasatch Back RAGNAR Relay with the rest of Team Chasqui. I didn't go this year. Last year was just too crazy for me so we stayed home and followed them on Twitter instead. :) I will dedicate another post all about the Ragnar and how awesome my boo did.

Parker and I spent the weekend cleaning, cleaning, & more cleaning. There wasn't 1 article of clothing in the laundry basket, washer, or dryer. Everything was washed, folded, and put away. The floors were mopped, fans dusted, tubs scrubbed, refrigerator cleaned out, clean sheets on bed, shutters dusted .... you get the point. I wanted it spotless and fit for a KING. We were so excited for Daddy to come home. We decorated the door with a signs and put his KING DAD crown on a platter... haha. He came home to a delicious dinner on the table, sparkling cider, and a nice clean house. We made him eat dinner with the crown on and everything. Parker insisted on wearing a crown too... he's so funny!

Warren is such a wonderful Dad! I love watching him and Parker together, they are best buds! WE LOVE YOU DADDY!!

He got his very own Trifle and didn't share with anyone!

The paparazzi caught W & P out on the town..... matching

Oh, I thought I throw these pics in too.... The first one is the one we sent MY Dad.. POPPY! Parker was not very cooperative for us. He would not sit still. At one point I just put the sign in the tree behind him and made him stand next to it. haha...

Waffle's Cafe REVIEW

Warren here. So the other day I was driving down Fort Apache and noticed a new place called Waffle Cafe off Fort Apache. It looked pretty interesting, so I took the fam there for breakfast. And OHHH daaaaannnngg was it good. You can create your own Waffle or choose from a few different combo meals. I had the Pumpkin Waffle with chocolate chips, whip cream, and nutella. Heather had the Original Waffle with banana's, strawberries, OH SNAP!
But they don't only serve breakfast. They serve lunch, dinner, & dessert. They offer a Waffle Club Sandwich fully loaded, a Waffle Brisket Sandwich, Waffle Pizza's,  Fruit Smoothies, Ice Cream Shakes, etc. SEE MENU BELOW.
The best part is everything on the menu falls well under $10. It's a small cafe with not much seating, but busines was hopping.  Today was our first time there but we will be making many return visits, thats for sure.

Concoction Ideas:
-waffles, pineapple, bacon, sprinkles, whip cream
-waffle, peanut butter, banana, walnuts, reese's chips, whip cream
-chocolate waffle, nutellas, marshmallows, banana, carmel sauce, whip cream
- Breakfast Sandwich- ham/bacon, cheese, egg, special sauce
-Banana Split- waffle + banana+ ice cream + chocolate sauce + almonds + sprinkles
-Waffle Pizza- pineapple + ham + sauce + mozzerella

LAS VEGAS MAD MUD RUN

Warren and I participated in the Las Vegas Mad Mud Run this past weekend. It was awesome! It was a 4 mile (3 miles in the desert) obstacle course that consisted of... jumping over 5 big hay stacks, a huge hill climb, balance beams, hurdles, jump over a wall, and a mud pitt.

The results were posted today and team DUFF POWER came in 5th out of 23 coed teams. Our final time was 45:20 min. The site didn't give our overall placement but I am going to try and figure it out. I am pleased with our results, even though I slowed Warren down a good 15 minutes. I had to keep reminding him it was "just for fun"... ugh, goodness. He sure kept me running though. He's all "see those people, lets pass them". ha! Team DUFF POWER will be back for the next Mad Mud Run in October... SO LOOK OUT YA'LL.

A big thanks to Allan (my funky fresh father-in-law) for the action pics! And another BIG THANKS to both Allan & Joanne (Parker's super fun G-Parents) for having him spend the night the night before the race so we didn't have to worry about him the morning of. YOU GUYS ROCK!!

my latest project

I love these little "key fobs"... they are so cute & fun to make!

I made a few "wristlet" styles and regular/mini size fobs.  The wristlets sure come in handy.
I am going to get different color webbing too, to add to its awesomeness. :)
I used the "natural" color webbing for these.

MY KEY FOBS

"Whether walking to the dorm, the shopping mall, the boardroom or the park, your keys are always handy and boy do they look fantastic…..The wristlets are easy to slide on and off and make finding your keys even in the largest purse or gym bag a breeze……..Stylish, durable, trendy and chic, it’s the perfect accessory to own and to share! "

Happy Mother's Day!

I can't believe I am a Mom. It still sounds so weird to me. But I am, and I love every minute of it.Parker has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I don't know what I'd do without him.
Sunday was a very relaxing day for me. Warren and P both gave me cards, flowers, and gifts. I got a gift certificate to the JW Marriott Spa... YES!!! Parker gave me the cutest card. It says...

"Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
You know, I've always thought that you have the prettiest eyes...
Both your regular ones, and the ones you have in the back of your head."

(When you open the card, it plays the 80's song "Somebody's Watching Me"..hahahaha)

We had dinner at the Duff's, like every Sunday. It was so nice. All the husbands made & cleaned up dinner. We had steaks & baked potatoes. Yummy!

Here is a picture we took of just the "Moms" after dinner...

Brian Regan Show

We returned from CA Friday evening and then Saturday we drove to St. George UT for the Brian Regan show. It was at the BEAUTIFUL Tuacahn Outside Amphitheater. The show was great! He did lots of new stuff and he even took requests. He did some of my favorites... "weight & gerth" and the "emergency room"... good times! There were 8 of us that went together. Joanne & Janel were in tears they were laughing so hard. haha.
Before the show we all went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, it is kind of a tradition every time the fam is in St. George together. My little sister & her boyfriend, Jason, joined us for dinner. They were also nice enough to babysit Parker while we were getting our laugh on. Thanks guys, you're the best!

At night they light up the whole Mt. behind the stage, it's so cool looking

Laguna Beach

Parker & I went with Warren to Laguna Beach for a work conference this past week. It was so fun! Warren was in meetings all day while Parker and I played. We ended up staying an extra night so Warren could relax a little too. We stayed at the Laguna Cliffs Resort , overlooking the beach. It was beautiful. We are going back in a couple months for another getaway... I can't wait.

"THE MUFFIN"

THANKS MOM!!

My Mom deserves her very own post. If it weren't for her we wouldn't have been able to BOTH run the LA Ragnar. She is the best! She came to Las Vegas and watched Parker while we were in CA for 3 days. They had so much fun together. Parker didn't even miss us, he sure LOVES his "Ya-Ya." My Mom would call us with updates on how they were doing and it just made me feel so good knowing they were having fun together. One time she called and they were at Target shopping. She asked if I sometimes let him out of the cart and I said "NO, don't let him out, then he'll always want out"...my Mom replies "Ooops, I let him out to look at the toys"...WHAT? haha...I guess you can do whatever you want with Grandma right? She also told me he LOVES Target Icee's & popcorn. Goodness, he was spoiled. She took him to the park and on walks in the wagon. They had so much fun together. Oh, and every time he had a #2 diaper she would give him a bath. He took like 3 or 4 baths a day. I nicely let her know that is what wipees are for & that she doesn't have to keep bathing him every time he potties...lol. She then "nicely" let me know that "wipees don't get the stink off".... Ooohhhhh Mom!

Warren and I came home that Sunday evening to homemade chicken enchiladas (my fav) and a homemade "knock-off" chocolate- chocolate-chip bundt cake (just like Nothing Bundt Cakes)...TOO DIE FOR!! She even did the icing the same. Yeh, my Mom is the BEST! I couldn't believe she made all that for us. Also, she had cleaned our whole house. The sheets were washed, floor mopped, bathrooms cleaned... THE WORKS. I wanted to cry when she left. I sure love my Mama.

Mom- thank you so much for being such a fun Grandma and Mom. We love you so much! :) Parker wants to know when you're coming back...??

Shark Reef @ Mandalay Bay

We had planned on being in Utah this weekend but our plans were changed at the last min. Warren came home from work wanting to do something fun so we decided to take a trip down to the strip. We took Parker to the Shark Reef and he loved it. It was a fun family outing.

BLOG BOOK 08

I got home today with a package on the doorstep! YAY, it was our blog book. I couldn't get it opened fast enough. I love how it turned out. The book cover is an "image wrap" with a matte finish....its the best way to go. I don't like book sleeves, they always get ruined or lost.
AAAHHHH, I LOVE IT!!!

There is one slight problem. The "2008" on front right was cut off. That was my fault. I put it too close to the edge. I fixed it though and just ordered another one.
I wanted 2 copies anyways. :)

Placemat Book Caddy

So, I am on the "Enrichment Committee" at church and we are making these for one of our "mini classes" this month.
I got the idea from my mother-in-law. She uses hers every Sunday. I bought the placemats at TARGET for super cheap. Two of them are reversible, which makes it extra cool and the other is just plain green. I don't even sew and can make these (however my mother-in-law did these for me & I sewed the ribbon on).
ALL you do is fold the placemat up 1/3 of the way and sew 5 lines which make the pockets. Then sew the ribbon on the back. THAT'S IT! So easy and fun! I love how they turned out.

Treadmill Dance

This video is so cool! I want 8 treadmills so I can do this dance....
